Dear editor,
I wish to respond to the letter, ‘Doctors respond in defence of hospital care.’
I agree that the staff of St. Joseph’s Hospital do the best they can, work long hours and some are compassionate but please, this is not about that. This is about a person having the right to die when she or he wishes.
Our tax dollars keep the hospice going. If St. Joseph’s refuses to abide by the law, then they should not be fund- ed for the hospice. It should be moved to a location where the right to die is not imped- ed by someone else’s religious views. This would stop the tremendous stress put on the patient and the families involved. Also, there are a lot of doctors who refused to sign this letter.
