Don Cherry’s remarks not racist
Re: “Cherry’s firing not about free speech”, (Nov. 22, Citizen)
I believe you have missed the point entirely. For you and a few others to interpret what Don Cherry said as inappropriate or racist is beyond ridiculous. Unfortunately there are a few of you who say that if others don’t agree with you then they are racist, or they are bigots.
And by the way Don Cherry was employed to say things that drew an audience. If the broadcaster did not agree with what he said, they can issue a statement that says they do not agree with what he said.
I agree with what Don Cherry said. Anyone who does not wear a poppy on Remembrance Day, and they do so consciously, is making a statement about the supreme sacrifice our brave women and men gave during the wars we were involved in.
