Editor: I was involved in a hit-and-run accident recently.
The driver of the vehicle took off. He not only hit me, but he was driving on the wrong side of the road. He got away, but I have one witness. I’m sure there were more.
The police saw the surveillance tape from the gas station that he sped through, but could not make out what kind of vehicle or licence plate number, due to the speed he was going. They could only determine that it was a two-door white car.
My complaint is that all proof was there that I was not at fault in any way.
The police have verified that it was a hit-and-run, but they have no way of finding this vehicle without a plate number.
According to ICBC, I still have to pay my deductible.
Really?
This wasn’t a vehicle left in a parking lot and just vandalized, with no proof that someone else did it. How is this fair that I should have to come up with $300?
I’m sure there have been lots of people in the same situation. This is the third time my car has been hit, but this is the first time I have had a witness and proof of innocence.
This is so unfair, it is a crime in itself.
I have already paid ICBC far too much for damage I did not cause, and now I have to pay again, when this time I have a witness to the accident?
I’m sure there were more witnesses, I just wish someone would have got the plate number.
I know the car, and I’m sure I will see it one day with the same driver.
Once a victim, always a victim. What a shame the world we live in where the victim always pays.
