Economic hardship apparent at Pages

Hope bookstore struggles to stay open due to lack of volunteers

Re: Book store needs volunteers (Oct. 19).

I was shocked and saddened on Friday when I walked into Pages and asked where the manager, Naydeen, was. Evidently, due to inadequate funding/volunteers she was let go.

Hope is suffering badly economically and this lady was a shining beacon full of financial and organizational ability par excellence. She will be sorely missed.

I urge Hope residents, like the customer who told me how devastated she was and how many won’t come anymore to Pages, to email Maureen Kehler at Maureen@freereinassociates.ca to ask that the board reconsider this disasterous decision.

Once again, the most vulnerable of our town will suffer, as there were many whose only good cheer came from Naydeen.
