It may be colder than usual for these parts at this time of year but don’t let that stop you from taking in the Vernon Winter Carnival activities over the next 10 days.
It’s actually supposed to start warming up by this weekend but there’s still a chill in the air. If you’re taking in the annual parade Saturday, (and why wouldn’t you?), dress warmly and enjoy the forecasted sunshine to boot. Weren’t we just complaining a few days ago about the lack of sunshine, even though we live in the North Okanagan we can’t have everything?
The Vernon Winter Carnival Committee and many other volunteers and supporters work hard all year so that we can ride out the last blast of winter in style.
The 54th annual extravaganza doesn’t just happen overnight and we take our toques off to all those involved in this great event.
Now our job is to go out and enjoy it and celebrate as a community.
There’s the parade, of course, the hot air balloon fiesta, the snow sculpture competition at Silver Star, the Sparkling Snowflake Ball, a wallyball tourney, bandarama, Suds N’ Cider, Irish Pub Night, kids truck rodeo, a snowshoe safari and many, many more events to take in – and that’s just the opening weekend.
So take advantage of all the Vernon Winter Carnival has to offer and enjoy the next 10 days as much as possible because there’s still so much to look forward to, including a family treasure hunt at O’Keefe Ranch, jopo House, free dance lessons and…….check vernonwintercarnival.com and enjoy.
