Sidney residents and business owners certainly like to share what they have with visitors and guests to their community.
And why wouldn’t they? Sidney has a lot to offer out here on the Saanich Peninsula and for many, it is already a destination for its many events, markets and scenery.
The new Sidney Business Improvement Association is going to try to capitalize on that willingness to welcome people to town and share all that makes the community what it is today — and could be in the future.
The BIA is embarking on a marketing program enticing people from afar to “Come Get Your Share” of all that Sidney has to offer. That’s the main catchphrase coming out of the BIA’s efforts to develop a brand for the business community — part of the overall marketing message that will be going out to Greater Victoria, Vancouver, Calgary and Seattle.
There is certainly enough to go around — from the scenery along the waterfront and the many community events throughout the year, to unique businesses and owners who go the extra mile to make your experience an excellent one. The BIA is ready to tell people about Sidney.
The key in this entire effort is the ‘I’ in BIA —improvement.
Members of the association are looking to local business owners and operators to step up their effort and change their approach — even just a little — to help make people’s experiences in town great ones. Experiences that will keep them coming back for more and sharing that with their friends. And that’s another important key in the evolution of the downtown business community.
With a heavy emphasis on the digital world, the BIA is hoping those businesses with a lower online profile will improve their presence and reap the benefits of what they are trying to accomplish — mainly sharing what Sidney has to share via the web. It’s another enticement for folks to step up their effort and build a vibrant downtown core.
The BIA appears to be on the right track. They have looked into what the community has to offer and realized there is a whole lot of Sidney to go around.
