This fall Sooke Fire Chief Steve Sorensen will retire after 36 years of dedicated service to this community.
He began his fire service career as a volunteer firefighter in 1980 and rose through the ranks to become chief 29 years later.
Sorensen faced many challenges during his tenure as the leader of the Sooke Fire rescue Service. To perform the duties in an effective manner, it demands long hours, dedication, professionalism, commitment, a belief in the staff and a determination to serve the community at a very high level.
Fire chief Sorensen has served us well and should be remembered for a job well done.
