Re: Private purchase of used vehicles.
Under the old PST we would pay only seven per cent when we registered a vehicle. Under the HST, we paid 12 per cent (seven per cent PST and five per cent GST).
With the new PST and GST, effective April 1, we will pay 12 per cent PST and 0 per cent GST. The federal government does not charge GST on the private sale of any used vehicles.
So did we go back to the old system? Yes, but with changes.
I’m going to register my vehicle before April 1 so that I don’t give any more to the Liberals that I have to!
