To the Editor,
My father has late-stage dementia and is on the fifth floor of Nanaimo Regional General Hospital.
My 19-year-old daughter was visiting him April 25, when at 8:55 p.m. she called to tell me the hospital called a code red in the lobby.
When I phoned the hospital the person on the other end declined to tell me what was going on.
Do I not have a right to know about the safety of my ailing father and daughter?
This is not acceptable. I had to Google what a code red (fire) was and call my daughter as she was locked down.
I was told it was not policy to reveal circumstances to me.
This is outrageous.
