To the Editor,
Re: ‘We can’t revisit this’, April 7.
I would like to commend you for publishing Toby Gorman’s article on the city housing strategy and in particular, low-barrier housing for the homeless.
The article was well-written and well-balanced. Coverage was given to the concerns raised by the Quarterway PAC and the Hospital Area Neighbourhood Association, as well as to success stories of local projects such as Balmoral House and the Warmlands project in Duncan.
I am a former Quarterway School parent and a Buttertubs Drive resident. I want us to provide appropriate housing for our citizens who are currently homeless or marginally housed.
I believe our children are in greater danger from the lack of appropriate supportive housing for those in need than they would be from well-planned and well-managed housing projects near their schools.
I look forward to welcoming these two projects to my neighbourhood.
