Family offers thanks for assistance

Accident victims provide praise for all emergency officials involved in incident

On July 31, while commencing our summer vacation, members of my family and I experienced a horrifying accident that we have never experienced before, and hope that you and your families will never experience.

From all of the photos at the accident scene along Highway 97, one can see many of the well-trained professionals such as paramedics, fire personnel and police officers that serve this community daily and who dedicate themselves to helping all those in need.

Aside from these dedicated professionals were numerous motorists that stopped that day to assist and comfort all at a time when we were in need.

I am sure many more drove by wanting to assist and thinking about their loved ones commencing a trip over the long weekend.

Many other supporters after the accident, mainly at the Vernon Jubilee Hospital, went beyond their professional responsibility to perform not only a medical duty but also provide such caring that helped comfort the physical and emotional pains.

Each of you know who you are and how you assisted us during and after that tragic event, so I want to say from all of our family members, friends and myself, a heartfelt thank you.

To the citizens of Vernon and the North Okanagan, please continue to support your local police, fire personnel, paramedics, hospital professionals, and the community and provincial leaders to ensure our communities and roadways are safe for all of our families.

Thank you for helping. Please be safe.
