Family welcomes gift from ‘angels’

Sydney’s family would like the community to know what kind of care people are at PriceSmart.

This story is about a three-year-old girl name Sydney.

Sydney was born with a rare chromosome disorder called IDIC 15, which is an extra chromosome 15. This disorder causes daily uncontrolled seizures, hypotonia (extremely low muscle tone), and physical and mental disabilities. Sydney is not able to walk, talk or communicate in any way.

Through research and a support group, her family has learned the electronic tablets, such as iPads, have enabled children with disabilities to learn and communicate with others.

Sydney’s Nana, Karen, works at PriceSmart Foods and one day mentioned this at work. To her amazement, her supervisor John Nicholson and his wife, Trena brought in a gift for Sydney, wrapped in beautiful paper. John had bought her a Samsung Galaxy tablet, knowing it would change the little girl’s life.

The following day, Peter (supervisor) and Kris, brought in another gift for her. It was a cover for her Galaxy tablet that will enable her to take it with her everywhere.

Sydney’s family would like the community to know what kind of care people are at PriceSmart. They have made Sydney part of the “PriceSmart family” and truly care about her well being.

This was the most wonderful gift for a little girl, who will hopefully on day be able to say ‘Thank you’ all by herself, thanks to her special angels.
