Fencing off fun not the answer

Yesterday was a sunny Saturday, and I watched as kids and parents tried to climb the fence to enter the baseball diamond in Laronde Park.

Two years ago, permanent fences were erected around the diamond, and the gates are only unlocked by baseball teams when they want to use the diamond.

I’m curious why other taxpayers are not allowed to use the field. If it is because the city wants to keep dogs out of the field, I would argue that for generations, everyone has played on baseball diamonds without being paranoid about dog excrement!

There has to be another solution, so that all taxpayers can enjoy the field.
