Ten pounds in four weeks.
No it is not weight gained or lost; it represents advertising flyers that came to my house during that time period.
This represents 1,300 pounds for a full year. Is that so bad? Only if you consider the following. 1 – The majority of the grocery stores send me two every week. 2 – One of those stores claims to be environmentally friendly and is cutting plastic shopping bags out. There seems to be a ‘shotgun’ approach to advertising. 3 – The cost of all the flyers goes back into product costs for the customers meaning higher prices. 4 – Another cost will be higher recycling costs which will come out of our tax money.
I do not know how many households there are in Greater Victoria, but the wasted money boggles the mind. Advertising has to become much more focused to ensure less environmental damage and lower costs to the consumer.
