Food bank thanks community for generosity

Hunger is a complicated problem, that many of us feel challenged to make an impact on.

With Hunger Awareness Day just behind us yesterday, your Food Banks British Columbia member, the Salvation Army Food Bank, would like to thank all of those who contribute to alleviation of hunger in our community.

Today our shelves are fully stocked! We live in a community that gives; not many cities can boast that have not had to reduce the size of hampers, or close up early due to lack of food. You have made a difference to those hungry in Salmon Arm and surrounding areas, and it is time to pat yourselves on the back.

Even with the increases in usage at our food bank over the past years, we are managing to keep our heads above water, and that is due to the generosity of our community.

We are looking for reliable volunteers with a valid B.C. driver licence who are capable of lifting. Looking for other ways to get involved? Contact the Salvation Army at 250-832-9194 or visit hungerawarenessday.ca for ideas.
