Food bank thanks Interior Savings for making a difference

The final results show 519 pounds of food were collected and over $800 in cash

To the editor;

The members of the Barriere and District Food Bank would like to thank the entire community of Barriere for their generous support of the Barriere Interior Savings Credit Union’s (ISCU) Day of Difference held on Oct. 20 last month.

Every year, ISCU chooses a group or cause to benefit from this event – this year, the Day of Difference was in support of the Food Bank.  Throughout the day, volunteers were busy bustling around town collecting donations.

The final results show 519 pounds of food were collected; $415.15 in bottles and cans were returned to the bottle depot; and cash donations totaling $428.75 were received.

Had the volunteers had more trucks, or more time, these totals would have been even higher.

The Barriere Food Bank would like to thank ISCU, the elementary and secondary schools, and the women of the Church of St Paul for their donations and in helping collect all the items donated from around town.
