Re: Weekend parking free downtown, Dec. 22.
I read with amusement your story of the downtown business group, which gets over half a million dollars a year to operate courtesy taxpayers. The Downtown Nanaimo Business Improvement Association has delivered a smoke-and-mirrors public relations stunt to appear it is doing something about parking woes.
If the BIA really wants to improve shopping in the business district, how about giving all its tax funding back to the city so free parking could then be subsidized 24/7.
