It’s unfortunate that you printed Mary Whiteman’s recent letter to the editor.

It’s unfortunate that you printed Mary Whiteman’s recent letter to the editor.

However much I respect her faith, propounding it in the newspaper is inappropriate. It is a subject that should be confined to the Pastor’s Corner. Her exposition of the Atonement Doctrine, apparently a central belief of the Christian faith, leaves you open to demands from other religions for equal time.

So, as a devout heathen, let me be the first to demand my five inches to accuse this God person/entity of being a really bad dad, because he apparently premeditated sending his boy to known torturers and killers and ignored his son’s heartfelt plea to be rescued.

Furthermore, I believe that my sins, and there are many of them, are my business and nobody has any right to atone for them some 2,000 years before I commit them.

Now it’s the turn of all those Rabbis, Imams and miscellaneous priests of whatever, who are forming a nice orderly line behind me, to claim their own space in The NEWS.
