Editor,

Our upcoming Sept. 17 Garage & Bake sale fundraising event sponsored by the Revelstoke Seniors and supports the Community Medical Transportation Program and Volunteer Programs. These programs have proven to be quite successful over the past year and has proven invaluable to many individuals in our community. The program has provided 18 rides to out of town medical appointments over the last 14 months, with more scheduled in the near future. This means that people scheduled for specialist appointments or medical testing outside our community (on days that the Health Connections Bus is unavailable) and who are unable to drive themselves, have been able to get to their appointments. This important service is provided by a few dedicated people who volunteer their time to drive. They are compensated for fuel, meal expenses and vehicle wear.

We are always looking for more volunteers for this program and men or women of all ages are welcome to give the gift of their time.

Everyone in the community is welcome to attend or donate!

Donations of working/useable items will be accepted until Sept. 16 between 9 a.m. and noon. Please no clothes. For more information or to make arrangements for items to be picked up, please call (250) 837-9456.

The Garage & Bake Sale is from 8 a.m. to noon on Sept. 17 at the Seniors Activity Centre, located in the Revelstoke Community Centre.

We’d like to thank the community in advance for their kindness in supporting this fundraiser and helping to make it a success.
