Re: gas price lunacy. What follows are a few simple questions written on Oct. 16.
When mid-Island gas is priced at $1.25, why is Victoria gas priced at $1.12 and Courtenay gas at $1.13?
And an even bigger ask: why, when paying a 10-12 cents/litre transit tax, is Vancouver gas priced at $1.25?
Every gas station in our immediate area has the same price to within one-tenth of a penny within an hour of a price change. Why?
Are the costs for all these different oil companies from oil out of the ground through refining through transportation identical down to the last penny? Of course not.
Why aren’t local politicians speaking out? How much could local governments save of our tax dollars if their fuel bills were 12 cents/litre cheaper? If the average motorist in this area does 10,000 km a year, how much over and above are we paying?
Why do we continue to put up with this?
