Get involved, and another blow to democracy

Another week has passed, with even more interesting events in town resulting in the poor attendance of local people. There’s lots to do at Cowichan Lake, you just have to look for it. Reading the Gazette is a great start.

Another week has passed, with even more interesting events in town resulting in the poor attendance of local people. There’s lots to do at Cowichan Lake, you just have to look for it. Reading the Gazette is a great start.

Coming up this weekend, there are two important events. First of all, the Cowichan Lake Sports Arena’s upgrade opening, Saturday, March 12 (see Pages 10-11).

On this same day is an open meeting on the Official Community Plan, at the town’s Municipal Hall.

It’s important they receive input on the plan, as it will set the course of the town for the next 10 years.

If you have a complaint, or some positive feedback, the Advisory Planning Commission members’ ears are wide open.

• During today’s CVRD board meeting, a $100,000 grant-in-aid vote will come before the board members to fund the Cowichan Sportsplex. During this vote, the Cowichan Lake area’s opinion doesn’t really matter (see Page 2). We don’t want to pay for it, but we likely will anyway. A frustrating point, indeed.
