The start of a brand new year and what better time to pause for a moment and recognize the many gifts in our lives. These gifts may not have been wrapped in festive paper or be something tangible that we can hold in our hands, but the gift of genuine friendships and love we share with one another, small acts of caring, and help when needed are the best.
On behalf of many seniors, I want to say a big thank you for all those who made our lives and community a little brighter for the Tour of Lights, Dec. 14, 2011. A total of 189 people rode in four buses provided by Gold Pan City Stagelines Ltd. which did an extensive drive to many parts of the city as well as an opportunity to see special lights around homes and yards south of Quesnel.
Upon return to the Seniors Centre we appreciated hot beverages and sandwiches provided by volunteers of the Seniors Society, lively entertainment by the Windy Reeds harmonicas, sweets donated by Lifeline, of the 23 boxes of oranges, five boxes were donated by Canada Safeway and remainder by the Quesnel Lions Club as well as the candy canes, the Seniors Centre for the use of the hall and Marilyn Glassford of Gold Pan Home Emergency Response Society (Lifeline) for organizing the event. Other Lifeline executive members who helped were treasurer Jean Stimpson and president Laura Entzminger. Marilyn Glassford is the intake worker. Elves Susan and Amber Hartman helped pass out goodies to appreciative seniors.
Also a big thank you to those of you who spent time and effort installing the outdoor lights and colourful displays for the enjoyment of all. We are really a pampered people.
TEN OF HEARTS
The residents of Fraser Village would like to give a big heart felt thank you to the Ten of Hearts for putting on the second annual Christmas party in the Fraser Village common room, Nov. 26, 2011.
These ladies are exceptional, brightening up the lives of those at Fraser Village at Christmas time. As well as delicious food and a fun filled atmosphere, each guest received a lovely gift. This group of 10 friends get together once a month. They have their own busy lives but make a great contribution of caring in many ways.
