Goat chasing event sets poor example for kids

Editor: It is appalling that at a time when rodeos are under attack for maltreatment of animals and the fact that animals are exploited for entertainment, that the Langley Riders Society would be promoting youngsters to chase down a goat at their Little Britches Rodeo.

What kind of message are you sending to children when you encourage them to put animals in distress?

If you wouldn’t let children chase puppies or kittens or put these animals through traumatic events in a rodeo, why would you do so to other animals just because they are labeled livestock?

There is no difference in every animal’s will to live without pain or fright.

I hope you will set a better example for society by teaching children compassion, kindness, and respect.
