Shame on Mayor Jim Garlick and Councillors Maria Besso, Pat Cochrane and Peter McClean for approving the zoning change to allow for the building of the pellet plant in Lavington.
Pinnacle’s own study showed that the emissions would result in provincial air quality objectives being exceeded at the local elementary school.
It was also brought to their attention that this air pollution has serious adverse health effects. Yet the mayor and these councillors all voted in favour of the plant, abdicating their responsibility to safeguard the health of the children that live in this district.
Or do they not care? Let’s hope the Interior Health Authority has more integrity.
