Great road work

I was often asked throughout this summer if the construction at Bay Street in Parksville affected my business (Blue Haven B&B).

I was often asked throughout this summer if the construction at Bay Street in Parksville affected my business (Blue Haven B&B).

Well yes, of course it was affected. In fact, my off-the-road guests were down a whopping 90 per cent.

Was it worth it? Very much indeed. I often observed kids risking their lives while attempting to cross the road to visit Temple Store and the times we have called 911 to vehicle accidents were too many to remember.

But, I must say in all sincerity, that the city, especially John Diggins (city engineer) and Knappet Industries (chief contractor) were absolutely top notch in their endeavour to make it as painless as possible with city officials and Knappet employees knocking on my door to make sure our concerns were met and dealt with (there were very few).

So, hats off to the city, Knappet Industries and to the fantastic flaggers — great job done and we now have a safer Parksville.
