Great support

Thank you very much for the kind article about being the top BC fundraiser for the Alzheimer's Walk for Memories last year.

Thank you very much for the kind article about being the top BC fundraiser for the Alzheimer’s Walk for Memories last year. It was a great honour for the family to have our mother, Margery, chosen as last year’s honoree.

It needs to be known that it was a big team effort that made the Wilde Bunch Team number one in the province. The dance that was held on Nov. 11, “A Night to Remember,” raised a large part of the total. The generosity of the Scotia Bank, Jack and the Schubert Centre, Kevin Rothwell, the Lee Dinwoodie Band, live and silent auction donators (who were very, very generous), everyone that came to the dance and brought their cheque books made our total so successful.

I was only the coordinator.

Our community is very generous.  In my sign business throughout the year we have produced sponsor boards for at least seven events such as golf tournaments, sports events or fundraisers. Many of the same names show up as sponsors from event to event and year after year.  Local manufacturers, retail shops, restaurants, realtors, financial institutions, lawyers, loggers, golf courses, the list goes on and on… these supporters have made so much possible!

Their support  has  generated  fundraising for the new hospital tower, hospice, building  centres like the People Place and the Tree House, letting kids play sports, ride horses or go to camp, helping a less fortunate family, making a difference for  Special Olympians, Vernon is a community that has made things happen.

To everyone that supported the dance, the walk, Alzheimer’s – thank you! To the community, please remember to support the local people and businesses that give back to Vernon.
