Grocery gangsters?

Parent unhappy with strong-arm actions of Overwaitea staff.

Dear editor,

Saturday afternoon I happened to be shopping in Overwaitea while visiting friends and family here in Port Hardy. I was with my four-year-old daughter and we both witnessed one of Overwaitea’s staff grab hold of a youth by the scruff of the neck, drag him outside and throw him out the door.

There has to be another way to deal with this, like, say, phone the RCMP. It was very hard to watch; I guess this young kid was stealing food, but my point is, I’m no longer going to shop in that store, and I’m also going to make a formal complaint to Overwaitea.

I’m not saying what this kid was right, but he posed nothing of a threat that I could see, which in turn hurt my little girl to see an act of violence, which it was. The lack of discretion on the staffs part made me sick to see this.

Is our local Overwaitea run by gangsters? The young boy was most likely hungry.

Shame on you Overwaitea, shame. I will no longer shop there.
