Happy that police enforcing the law on marijuana

Unlike Gary Starkweather, I am please that the authorities are cracking down on these illegal pot businesses.

Re: “Cannabis shop raids a waste of resources”, (Citizen, March 10)

Unlike Gary Starkweather, I am please that the authorities are cracking down on these illegal pot businesses. Until the law is changed, they need to abide by the law, pure and simple.

I am deeply disappointed that these people are publicly thumbing their noses at the law. What a terrible example to our youth. There are many of us who do not agree with the ingestion of pot into humans whether it be smoking or eating or whatever. There is a growing amount of evidence to indicate that this really is, in the long run, harmful to our bodies. There was a recent article in the National Post that indicated that experts in the field are now saying that it is harmful even for medical marijuana users. In the case of one our children, smoking pot became the gateway drug to even more harmful substance abuse. It just doesn’t make sense to me and to a lot of other people in our society!

The law is the law. If I speed on the highway and the police stop me, I will pay the penalty no matter how hard I try to avoid it. Selling illegal substances is just the same. Keep up the enforcement please, both the municipality and the police.
