After International Co-operation Minister Bev Oda misled members of the House of Commons, our local Conservative MP (Colin Mayes) said he was “disappointed,” but still “very supportive of her.”
He has to be very supportive even though she lied; because Harper Conservatives are not allowed to admit they make mistakes. When MPs from the other parties accuse the Conservative government of devious deeds, our MP glibly says “the Opposition is throwing mud to see if it will stick.”
Rather than participating in meaningful debate and constructive compromise to advance the interests of all Canadians, Stephen Harper prefers negative attack ads to smear the personal reputation of his opponents.
John Maxwell said, “A man must be big enough to admit his mistakes, smart enough to profit from them, and strong enough to correct them.” Obviously Stephen Harper is not big enough, smart enough nor strong enough to be an effective leader.
It certainly would be interesting to know the real reasons why three B.C. Conservative MPs recently announced their intention to quit federal politics.
