Have Your Say

Bouquets go out to all those seniors who showed up at the local curling club for the elections. It's about time we show the local club we have are part of it wish to be treated with respect. Raising our annual dues and losing many teams to our league will not solve your problem. Hats of to the seniors.

Union Bay  is so lucky to have this great guy who takes care of their hall. A cheerful “can do” attitude when asked if there was a chair with arms for someone with a hip replacement at the flea market last week. Many thanks to Dave.

A big thank you goes out to Carmen Wakelin and the wonderful folks at EatMore Sprouts of Courtenay whose generous donation to Seedy Saturday made such a huge difference to the Comox Valley Growers and Seed Savers. May your sprouts grow green and your enterprise flourish.

On behalf of the members of the Back Country Horsemen of BC, Vancouver Island Chapter, a big “thank you” to the local media, especially the Comox Valley Record, for the great coverage on our recent media release about horse and rider safety on roads. Bouquets also to the local volunteers and BCHBC members who collaborated to deliver this important message: Sharon Pickthorn and John King for their expert advice; Jill Ackerman and her horse, Salty, for posing for photos; Ian Pratt for his great photography; Terri Perrin for her writing. Mostly importantly, a huge ‘Thank you!’ to all drivers who remember to use caution when horses are on the local roads and pass slow and wide! We have noticed a difference in many drivers’ responses since the article was published. Happy trails to you all!

I read the article about the VIU loss in the gold medal match at the national championships. I was pretty disappointed in both the coach and the tournament MVP for how they felt the official lost the gold for them. True or not, “man up” you lost, emphasis on “you.” Maybe not accepting the tournament MVP would have given them a piece of her mind. Ha. Just my opinion, being on all three sides to this fence.

A big thank you from the Kitty Cat PAL Society to the many community members who donate to us in their daily rounds through Quality Foods points, Thrifty Smile Cards, bottle and can returns at the two local depots and our donation cans at many locations.
