We would like to give our heartfelt thanks to the people of the Comox Valley for their generous support for the schoolchildren of the Philippines. Also a special thanks to Mia Sutherland of the Core Studio for hosting a fundraiser last year. Great job, Mia. Also, thanks to Lorena McLeod of Lorena’s Hair Studio, and Victoria McLeod of Victoria’s Esthetics and Foot Care whom held a fundraiser in June last year for a day Spa Makeover, and Gift Basket, also thanks to the families, students, teachers from a number of Comox Valley Schools for continuing donating school supplies, and used computers, printers, type writers and back packs. Last year we collected $1,575 towards the shipping costs of $3800, to ship 34 boxes, which I paid the difference. This year we have 30 boxes ready to go if we can accomplish the funds to send. We collected $800 so far and are target is to raise $3,000 more to ship these boxes before Nov. 30. To donate, please call: Victoria at Victoria’s Esthetics at 250-871-1212 or Marvin McLeod at 250-338-6648. Again we thank you all for the support. God bless you all.
What’s with the repeated questioning concerning what happened after they stopped spraying the railway tracks? The last time the ties deteriorated more quickly was because CP used untreated ties and sand as ballast. If you want the ties to last then use concrete. We’ll never wear them out. If you want to spray herbicides all over the place, then do it in your own back yard, not ours. Someone could get a pretty nice little contract supplying the concrete ties to our revitalized railway. Nothing else should be installed. They only rot because we don’t spray our right-of-way any more.
To the retirement-aged woman who wandered into my house, with her dog, just before 11 on Thursday morning. Common courtesy dictates that when you disrupt a stranger while they’re using their own washroom (regrettably with the door open), you at least apologize on your way out. Also, we are cat owners, and had our feline roomie been indoors when your pet came in off-leash I’m afraid it may have gone poorly. Everybody makes mistakes and deserves patience, but please try to be more polite and respectful when you’re uninvited in a private residence.
A huge bouquet to all that responded to an epic car crash on Fourth Street this afternoon outside the S. Army. My truck was hit by an elderly driver and me and my little three-month-old (luckily unharmed and inside the S. Army) were left scrambling for a ride home/dealing with insurance. Special thanks to Lori, who watched my wee one for me and those that offered rides home. Very thankful and lucky that none were hurt, outside of our vehicle damage. Just 10 or so minutes before I had been in the backseat feeding my little girl. Someone is watching.
The Salvation Army sends a bouquet of resounding thank yous and high fives to Hot Chocolates & Cake Bread Artisan Bakery for the sweet treats that are donated to our emergency shelter. Our staff appreciate your kind consideration to our shelter guests, as they serve such lovely special treats!
