Dear editor,
My family and I would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who has gone out of their way for us in the last three weeks. Our community is an awesome place to live and raise a family. The support we received, whether it was emotional, financial, or just thoughts of healing and well being, have been a huge lift through this troubled time.
I would like to take a second to thank everyone on the dock that day, you went above and beyond for us and it is greatly appreciated. Steve, thanks for being there to catch Benton. To some of you who were injured, physically or emotionally, we are sorry and extremely thankful that there were only minor injuries (Kierra). To the people who attended to us on the docks, your quick reactions allowed our healing to start the right way, we are grateful for your knowledge and willingness to help.
To the paramedics, thanks for taking a break down at the water that day, you were there for us in a matter of minutes. Rob, thank you for going out of your way for Benton and your generosity won’t be forgotten. Thanks to the RCMP, Fire and rescue crews who were there in less than 5 minutes and took control.
To our nurses at the hospital, thank you for treating us extremely well during one of the busiest days the hospital has seen. You made us feel safe and cared for. Dr. Armogam, our family felt at ease when we saw you were looking after us, you’ve always treated us amazingly well and that day was no exception.
The air ambulance medevac crew was amazing (so I was told… I was put under) they communicated openly to Cyndi about what was going on and how it was all going to happen, these people are true professionals at what they do and the sense that we were in the right hands continued.
The care we received at both hospitals in Victoria was second to none. The doctors were there when needed but more importantly the qualified nurses were there to take on my healing process with me. In ICU the nurses were all extremely qualified and capable but the true essence of the nursing craft presented itself when I was transferred to the burn unit. These individuals knew their stuff! It is because of these experienced and trained individuals that I have been able to heal as well and as quickly as I have.
We will never be able to individually thank everyone who has helped during this time, but please know that you have entered into our hearts. There is a list that is way too long of people who we could name but in doing so we might inadvertently miss someone and we wouldn’t want to hurt or offend anyone. We will make a point to see everyone personally over the next while to pass on our heartfelt thanks. It is an honour and a privilege to live and work amongst so many great people.
Heartfelt thanks!
Conrad Browne and family,
Port McNeill
