Holland’s F-35 statement ‘ridiculous’

At the NIC all-candidates' meeting on April 13, MIke Holland stated that the purchase of the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter as the next generation fighter aircraft is “ridiculous.”

Dear editor,

At the NIC all-candidates’ meeting on April 13, MIke Holland stated that the purchase of the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter as the next generation fighter aircraft is “ridiculous.”

That statement in itself is much more ridiculous.

His flippant, off-hand remark indicates a dismissal of the fact that the F-35 program for our Air Force has got where it is only after careful analysis and consideration by professional military and civilian members of the Department of National Defence.

Instead of a rational, fact-based criticism, he chose to simply spout the party line and thereby show his disdain for the Canadian Forces, rather than the pride he claimed to have for them.

That sort of irresponsible comment does not engender trust.
