As a society, we have successfully mounted a negative campaign against smoking and racism.
It’s time to do the same for this sort of abuse. I would suggest using the term coward.
When we were kids, we would say to the playground bully to pick on his own size, we understood picking on a smaller kid was cowardice.
Likewise, a man using violence against a woman, men who hit women – cowards. Men who rape women – cowards. Honour-killing should be relabelled coward-killing. Marital spats are normal.
Real men are able to dialogue through them, cowards use violence.
