Re: “Terry Fox ran for you,” by Adrian MacNair in the Sept. 12 Leader.
Unquestionably Terry Fox was a Canadian icon.
He had a spirit so strong, that he has carried millions all around the world on this journey to bring an end to cancer. His family and a multitude of volunteers work hard to keep his dream alive.
My oldest daughter was diagnosed in 2004 at 18 years old with osteosarcoma, the same cancer that Terry had. It was a sobering decision to amputate her leg above the knee, but Terry’s image kept her strong through it all.
Now she is healthy, her eye is on the 2016 Paralympics (triathlon), and she is miraculously expecting her first child.
Terry Fox is continuing to make a difference. Just keep believing.
Our family honoured his legacy at the run this year as we have for the past nine years, with much admiration and gratitude.
