Last week NDP House Leader John Horgan was campaigning in Vancouver on CKNW talk radio. Horgan was being interviewed and made reference to David Black’s investment and proposed refinery in Kitimat:
“It’s irresponsible to assume because the guy (Black) has an idea it’s going to be successful, because that’s not the track record of private sector investment. Everybody’s got a good idea . . . there’s a sucker born every minute.”
Is this how the NDP is going to treat private investment? The issue is not the refinery in Kitimat, it is the idea that the “private sector” is a sucker for investing in B.C. and its people.
Horgan has a long history of being a government employee and an elected official. Does this make him smarter than the private sector, which has invested in all the small, medium and large businesses in B.C.? Does Horgan have no confidence in the people of B.C.?
Possibly Horgan should apologize to all B.C. residents who are trying to make a difference in this province by investing in the future. Or possibly he should step outside his comfort zone (government) and try, like the rest of us, to invest for the success of the next generation in B.C., or would that make him a sucker too?
Do all NDP members believe in Horgan and this is why he is the house leader?
