HUGS: To everyone who volunteered on Saturday for the free microchip for your dog or cat. Hopefully lost pets will find their homes faster. It was a job well done by everyone. Thank you from a very appreciative dog owner.

Thank you to the angel who gave me the carton of vanilla soy beverage left behind in the Baker St. thrift store. Three angel encounters in three consecutive days.
HUGS: To the wonderful people who offered up space in their car to two very wet/sandy, stray dogs at the dog park on March 23. I certainly had my hands full with a baby, a dog on leash and phone in hand. Thank you for helping to get the dogs to safety where their owner was able to be found! You did more than most that day. HUGS: Big appreciative hugs to the awesome owner of a local business who generously donated his facility to the high school baseball team to help them raise money one Sunday to offset some costs involved in travelling and is always very supportive to kids in sports in this town. You’re a very giving citizen of this town and it’s greatly appreciated. You totally rock!
SLUGS: Now that distracted driving has overtaken impaired driving as a factor in accidents in BC, I wonder if the police will do a blitz to catch the offenders. It wouldn’t take long for the word to get out. Police don’t even have to leave their headquarters. They can just look out their front windows. The fines could help with any shortfall in the budget. To the offenders, what is so important that it can’t wait until you’re not behind the wheel?
HUGS: To my loving sisters who supported me in a time of great need and tragic loss. To my loving son and daughter-in-law who came such a long distance to be my anchor in the time of turmoil. To my closest neighbours who came to my rescue and helped me during those first painful hours. I will always be grateful. To the 911 dispatcher, paramedics and emergency doctor who did everything humanly possible to save my husband’s life. My heartfelt thanks. To my dear family, friends and neighbours, thank you for all your prayers and compassion that has given me strength. SLUGS: I am a landlord in Nelson. My rents are substantially lower than most. I have many tenants that have been in my places for five to 10 years, so it can’t be too bad renting from me. I have always taken pets, and here is my point. I am considering changing my pet policy after all these years, not because of pet damage, but because of ignorant, lazy people who refuse to clean up after their pet. I love dogs. I think it is normal to have a dog, and I will miss them, but these people have no one to blame but themselves and each other. Most landlords refuse to take pets after experiences cleaning up piles of crap for these owners. Don’t say it’s because you’re young. You don’t have to be young to be irresponsible and lazy. I feel sorry for the dogs, who will get the short end every time when they can’t find somewhere to live. Grow up, people!
