This is a letter for the community on what to expect when you go to our new hospital.
On Feb. 10 at 10 a.m. I went with my husband for an appointment at the new facility. Feeling the need to use the facilities we did so and me being slower of the two of us headed back to the main entrance where upon the receptionist stopped me and asked could she help me. I said no, that I had just needed to use the washroom and then said thank you, where upon she informed me that “there were facilities downtown for the public.” I told her that I had just brought my husband here for an appointment and she then had to know his name and as she checked her computer she informed me I should wait at another waiting area for him. As I turned to leave I told her I would return later and wait in the parking lot. As I went to my vehicle I felt insulted and taken back.
We’ve lived here for over 40 years and helped around this area. I felt at that time maybe we should now fundraise for portable toilets to be installed in the parking lot for us that have to wait for family members while at appointments.
Sincerely,
Vicki Nealis
