Intervention on strike necessary

It’s time to take control of this job action at Vancouver Island University.

To the Editor,

It’s time to take control of this job action at Vancouver Island University.

Everyone is wrong except the students and a new injustice has raised its ugly head – the university is accommodating exchange students at some other facility.

Here we have local taxpaying citizens who are supporting their children, who attend this university and who are locked out due to the strike, yet foreign students get a special deal.

It’s time for the government to intervene – obviously the mediator is in over his head.

If this issue goes any longer, millions of dollars worth of student loans, car insurance, books, and a multitude of other expenses will be wasted. Not to mention the time involved for the futures of these kids.

The university is destined to remain small-time and no serious student will consider investing their time and money here. Intervene now.
