Editor John Harding’s editorial of Nov. 2 covering the Qualicum Beach Residents’ Association Annual General meeting leaves much to be desired.
The mayor didn’t put any stop to discussing any local municipal happenings, but the attendance of Bill Luchtmeijer, who should have known he shouldn’t have been there, was at fault.
The mayor described in detail just why they were not permitted to talk about something when more than two councillors were in attendance.
I have always found the mayor to be an honest individual and he advised that he was following instructions from his paid staff and Victoria on this matter.
I thought that a more investigative reporter would have questioned our town administration, or even Victoria, yet Harding seems to rely on “a municipal employee in a different B.C. community” on getting an opinion.
Please try our town’s administration officers, Mark Brown or Trudy Coats, or Victoria’s Ministry of Municipalities for a truer understanding.
