Re: one of the recent letters to the editor about rail service on Vancouver Island, written by Roelof Elzinga.
I am in total agreement with the letter writer’s comments. Forget about the Island train, just a waste of time and money. Before retirement, I used to drive from Lake Cowichan to Victoria, Monday to Friday return, to work. What I noticed when I got to the Victoria crawl was car after car merging onto the Trans Canada Highway from the Langford/Colwood merge lane with only one person in the car. This just proves that everyone wants to drive their own car to work and not interested at all in carpooling. This shows that no one would use the train coming from that area. I myself, at the time, being from Lake Cowichan, could not carpool, but I also noticed that a lot of the cars heading south to Victoria only had one person in the car too.
