Joke on councillors name not funny or appropriate

Please stick to the facts and leave name calling to the schoolyard.

I feel that everyone has the right to disagree or debate the decisions that his or her local council make.

However, I cannot take someone seriously when they submit a letter to the editor to complain about a particular issue and said letter begins by suggesting a councillor has been drinking, or is simply trying to make a joke of their last name.

Mr. John Townsen may have a valid argument in his letter published July 11 (“View Royal’s plans for new fire hall are excessively expensive”), but when he begins by childishly making fun of Mr. Screech’s last name all his credibility is lost.

Please stick to the facts and leave name calling to the schoolyard.
