The recent snowfall is a very welcoming sight in my opinion, making everything look clean and fresh again, at least for the time being. I’m referring specifically to the downtown ‘oval walking track’. This track is conveniently located, and is well maintained throughout the winter months for everyone to enjoy. Many of us are grateful for this walking tack and rely on it as a place to get some fresh air and exercise during the winter, since it so easily accessible.
The warmer, sunny days which we all enjoyed recently, brought many more people down to the track and of course, dog owners also need to walk their pets, which I don’t have a problem with. This time of the year we can actually begin to feel some warmth from the sun especially when wearing dark coloured clothing and, as we all know, dark coloured “objects” absorb more heat than do white surfaces, such as a blanket of snow. However, there is a problem with the warmer, sunnier weather in that the walking track enclosure becomes increasingly disgusting, smelling and unsightly.
To the people who bring their dogs to the track, I say please bring a doggy doo bag with you, in consideration of others who use this facility. With the convenient location of the trash bin at the entry gate, you only need to carry the bag for part of one lap before disposing of it.
Thanks, from one dog lover to another.
