Resident concerned about possible Vernon city cuts to landscaping

KPMG, who is this to advocate cutting or outsourcing expenses to maintain city landscapes — grass, trees, shrubs, parks, etc.? Outsource means lower wages without representation.

Look at the Wesbild Centre landscaping — weeds, dead and dying vegetation, broken irrigation. By telephone, I volunteered two years ago to help clean up some of the mess. There was no response from the contractor.

This is a prime example of what the rest of the city will look like if they cut off irrigation and mowing boulevards and linear trails. Taxpayers have a right to take pride in their well cared for city property.

Someone lobbied and voted to build a multi-million-dollar track but cannot mow the boulevard? City council needs to get priorities where they belong. Beautify existing shrubs, trees and parks to filter the polluted air along all roadways.

Reinstate Communities in Bloom infrastructure. Take pride in previous work done by countless volunteer hours by this organization to get up to the standards set.
