Re: Rezoning application seeks to move liquor store to Brooks Landing, July 30.

Liquor at Brooks Landing is a bad idea. The location is adjacent to an underground tunnel that is used by numerous pedestrians and cyclists to safely cross the highway. This strategic connector is the entry and exit point for Woodlands school and leads to various other paths and roadways.

If public liquor consumption is happening inside or around the tunnel, people will feel unsafe and will be forced to avoid this important connector. The goals of the city’s plan to increase pedestrian and commuter bicycle trips will be set back significantly.

For this and many other reasons it is important for the city to follow its own criteria for liquor rezoning (150 metres from schools) and not  allow this application to go through.
