Knowledge about climate change right there for you if you dare
Dear Conservative voter:
As a former Conservative I would like to offer an olive branch, or perhaps a branch from the tree of knowledge would be a more appropriate metaphor. While I know our worldviews are likely to be widely divergent, I believe that you are also a seeker of the truth and want to know that the legacy you leave for your heirs will be one of happiness, health and good fortune. On that account I believe our hopes and ambitions are perfectly aligned.
One of the biggest obstacles to a harmonious relationship is our difference of opinion on the matter of climate change and the science that supports it. Pseudo-science is the term that I frequently hear used to describe the warnings of such doomsayers as Al Gore, David Suzuki, Elizabeth May, Andrew Weaver, Greta Thunberg, Greenpeace, Sierra Club, Wikipedia, etc. And why would you believe them? They are not your people; just a bunch of left-wing, bleeding heart, nut-bars some would say.
But if we all had knowledge; real knowledge that we could trust to lift the veil of ignorance, surely we, who are thoughtful, intelligent human beings, would find ourselves not only on the same page, but fully aligned in our thoughts and actions to ensure that we are providing the best opportunities for our offspring.
If ignorance is the disease and knowledge is the cure, who would choose to remain ignorant if knowledge was only a mouse click away?
This offer does come with a warning though. Once you have learned the truth, you will not be able to unlearn it, and you won’t be able to tell your children or grandchildren that you would have behaved differently; that you would have fought for their future, if only you had known. Because, if you seek this knowledge, you will certainly know. Press on if you dare.
So here is the olive branch, two sources even a skeptic can trust. Go to National Geographic https://www.nationalgeographic.com/ and/or Encyclopedia Britannica https://www.britannica.com/ and do a search for global warming, read what they have to say and then you can make an informed decision about whether the Garden of Eden really is on fire and what if anything you can do about it.
