On Aug. 8 at approximately 2 a.m., it was necessary for us to call the Surrey Fire Services for assistance.
Our small complex – a not-for-profit housing society – experienced an emergency as a result of a major water leak from a second floor unit as a result of a burst feeder hose into a toilet tank.
Unfortunately, the occupant of that unit was out of the province at the time. The result was major water damage to the unit directly below. The water damage was very extensive.
Surrey Fire Service members, under the supervision of Captain Ralston Carnegie along with fire fighters Jack Traa, Paul Hebden and Owen Miller attended the scene and took charge of what was a major situation for us.
They made a multitude of calls that resulted in contact with the society’s insurance company and a restoration company to handle the immediate needs of clean up, including dealing with damaged personal property.
We consider the actions of the members of Surrey Fire Service to be exceptional and we wish to express our extreme gratitude. Far too often, the actions of our first responders go unrecognized.
