I have not said anything about the OK Landing Fire Hall in the past as I believe they have done an absolutely great job in the 31 years I have lived in the Landing.
I have known several volunteers in the hall and they have been very proud to be a representative of that hall.
They train every Tuesday and more when needed.
I know of several situations that have been only the Landing responding and a great job has been done.
I take real offence to the statement made by Juliette Cunninghan (acting mayor) in the Global News this morning stating ” the hall will have more opportunities once we know the level of training they have, they will have more opportunity to take on a fire on their own without the backup of the main hall.”
The main hall has not been a part of the Landing response for many years in the past and only now have they come to be this “backup”.
This statement makes it sound like the Landing is not able or trained to do this without their “big brothers” from the Main Hall.
I believe this is not true.
As a long-term resident and taxpayer of the Landing I would like it known that I, in full confidence know that this hall can respond to anything that happens in the Landing and do it well as an independent volunteer firehall.
In closing I want it known that my household in the Landing supports the Okanagan Landing Hall fully and would like to see it be left alone to be the hall it is now and has been for a very long time.
