Editor: I wonder at what point in time is this Langley Township council ever going to pull their heads out of the sand.
I’ve lived here since 1999, and my taxes have just gone up, up, up. Council members are supposed to serve the Township, not their own personal interests. I know there are services required, but I was never consulted about full-time firefighters, which are costing me more and more every year. I can’t see any better services since I came here, and you expect more pay for no more services.
Now the mayor thinks we should give TransLink half a percent sales tax to the unelected, unaccountable fools that “run” TransLink. It starts at 0.5 per cent, and only goes up from there.
The mayor needs to get a grip on what he is responsible for, and represent taxpayers. I hate to use the expression, because it’s pretty juvenile, but OMG. Maybe the people that run this Township need to be less juvenile too.
It’s too bad that most taxpayers are too busy to read the papers and get involved with how they are being raped year after year for unacceptable service. They are too busy trying to make ends meet and look after their families and running their lives. They have no time to protest being ripped off by their elected officials.
Elected people should look in the mirror, and tell the public you can all look at yourselves with confidence, as you are doing the job you were elected to do under the trust you have been given. This is long overdue.
Look at the voter turnout, and you’ll see that you haven’t been given a mandate, just that many of us are all disgusted with your “service.”
