Leave Crofton beach foreshore park as it is

Re: Robert Barron’s article on adding off-leash dog parks

The foreshore in Crofton Beach Park is a special area used by people of all ages and abilities, a favourite play area for young children, and winter home to a flock of mallard ducks.

With washroom facilities and clean sand this area is used year round as a play area for families with young children. A picnic table, benches, and exercise equipment enhance the appeal.

The pee, poop, and lack of direct control over animals that come with off-leash dog parks would be detrimental to this area’s current use by all the public, not just dog owners and their pets. This is to say nothing of the environmental impact on the mallard ducks who make their winter home in the sheltered bay to one side of the beach. Please leave this park as it is, open to all.
